Job Description
The primary responsibility of the Cleaner will be to ensure the store, including its various areas such as the shop floor, stockroom, dispensary, administrative offices, and canteen, is kept clean and orderly at all times. Adhering to Dis-Chem’s strict hygiene standards is essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain Hygiene Standards:
- Perform daily cleaning tasks to ensure all areas of the store are spotless before opening.
- Develop and follow cleaning routines to maintain a high standard of cleanliness across the store.
- Clean Communal Areas:
- Keep the canteen and restrooms clean and fully stocked with necessary supplies throughout the day.
- Ensure these areas are sanitized regularly and free from dirt or clutter.
- On-the-Spot Cleaning:
- Be available during operational hours to clean any spills, messes, or other incidents that may occur.
- Use of Cleaning Products:
- Utilize appropriate cleaning products and equipment for different tasks.
- Ensure that all cleaning tools and materials are stored properly after use.
- Health and Safety Compliance:
- Place visible wet floor signs at both ends of the area being cleaned to prevent accidents.
- Perform tasks in alignment with established health and safety protocols.
- Customer Interaction:
- Be friendly and professional when interacting with customers.
- Assist customers courteously when required.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the Cleaner position, candidates must meet the following essential requirements:
- Education:
Grade 12 / Matric certificate. - Experience:
At least six months of experience in cleaning roles. - Skills:
Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
Basic customer service skills.
Knowledge of an additional local language is advantageous. - Availability:
Willingness to work retail hours, which may include weekends and holidays.
