This is an incredible opportunity for internal Cashbuild applicants to grow within the company and contribute to a thriving work environment.

What Does a General Assistant Do?

As a General Assistant, you’ll be at the heart of the customer experience, ensuring everyone who walks through the doors receives top-notch service. Your day will be dynamic and engaging, encompassing a variety of crucial tasks:

  • Customer Service Excellence: You’ll be the first point of contact for many customers, providing expert advice on products, helping them find exactly what they need, and efficiently resolving any queries or concerns they may have. Your friendly and helpful approach will leave a lasting positive impression.
  • Merchandising Mastery: Keeping the store looking its best is a key part of the role. You’ll be responsible for meticulously merchandising stock in your designated area, ensuring products are displayed safely, neatly, and according to the store’s layout plans and planograms. This includes both the bulk stock areas and individual shelves.
  • Impeccable Housekeeping: A clean and organized store is a safe and pleasant store. You’ll play a vital role in maintaining a pristine environment, ensuring aisles are free of obstacles, newly received stock is promptly merchandised, and customers can move freely and safely. This also extends to ensuring correct shelf price labelling and completing essential checklists for areas like the canteen and restrooms.
  • Safety First (OHSA Compliance): Your commitment to safety is paramount. You’ll adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) requirements, including the proper use of safety gear and ensuring the safety of both customers and colleagues within your area. This means ensuring all stock, both on racking and in bulk, is merchandised safely to prevent any hazards. Any discrepancies or potential risks will be promptly reported to the Store Manager.
  • Proactive Stock Loss Management: You’ll be an active participant in minimizing stock loss by diligently reporting any damaged stock within your area of responsibility to the Store Manager.
