Position: Short-Term Contracts for Street Cleaning General Workers (EPWP)
Key Responsibilities:
- Litter picking and street sweeping
- Removing stickers and pamphlets from street furniture, poles, and road signs
- Cleaning informal settlements
- Assisting with clean-up campaigns in collaboration with City Departments
- Loading waste onto trucks
- Distributing Pikitup refuse bags/bin liners in informal settlements
- Identifying and cleaning illegal dumping hotspots
- Clearing spillages when bag breakage occurs
- Reporting safety, equipment, and injury incidents to the supervisor
- Conducting environmental education and awareness in communities

Requirements:
- Applicants must be residents of the City of Johannesburg
- Proof of residence in the City of Johannesburg is required for homeowners
- Non-homeowners should provide an affidavit confirming their place of residence
- Ability to read, communicate, and follow instructions
- Successful candidates may undergo vetting if necessary
- Ability to use prescribed position tools of trade (e.g., broom, litter picker, rakes, etc.)
- Proficiency in local languages relevant to the wards
- Team player who follows instructions
