Job Purpose

The primary objective of the Finance Intern role is to assist with the financial processing of transactions, ensuring adherence to required controls and accounting principles. This role is integral to maintaining the accuracy and efficiency of the college’s financial operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

As a Finance Intern, the selected candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks within different areas of finance:

1. Creditors

  • Daily Processing of Purchase Orders: Interns will handle the daily entry and management of purchase orders, ensuring that all transactions are recorded accurately.
  • Daily Processing of Supplier Invoices: They will be tasked with processing invoices from suppliers, which includes verifying amounts and ensuring proper documentation.
  • Loading of Supplier Banking Details: Interns will input supplier banking information for payment approvals, ensuring accuracy and compliance with institutional policies.
  • Processing of Corporate Credit Transactions: They will manage credit transactions related to corporate purchases and payments.
  • Preparing Payment Reconciliations: Interns will prepare daily or monthly reconciliations of payments, which involves comparing records to ensure accuracy.
  • Processing of Petty Cash Transactions: They will handle petty cash transactions, including recording and reconciling small expenditures.
  • Assisting in BEE Certificate Collection: Interns will help gather and update BEE (Black Economic Empowerment) certificates, which are crucial for supplier compliance.
  • Updating the Supplier Database: They will assist in maintaining and updating the supplier database to ensure it reflects current and accurate information.

2. Fixed Assets

  • Acquisition of Assets on D365: Interns will be involved in the process of acquiring assets using the D365 financial management system.

3. Debtors

  • Assisting with Unidentified Receipt Queries: Interns will help resolve issues related to unidentified receipts
