As a Process Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to optimize and enhance the performance of Rand Water’s water treatment processes. Key Responsibilities:
- Process Optimization: You will be responsible for analyzing the existing water treatment processes, identifying bottlenecks, and developing strategies to optimize the overall efficiency. This involves conducting process simulations, evaluating equipment performance, and recommending process modifications to improve productivity.
- Performance Monitoring: You will monitor the performance of various treatment processes, collecting and analyzing relevant data to assess their effectiveness. By conducting thorough data analysis, you will identify trends, patterns, and potential issues, allowing for timely intervention and continuous improvement.
- Asset Management: In collaboration with the Asset Management team, you will develop and implement maintenance strategies for the equipment and infrastructure related to the water treatment processes. This includes conducting condition assessments, performing risk assessments, and recommending maintenance schedules to ensure optimal performance and longevity of assets.
- Process Safety and Compliance: You will work closely with the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) team to ensure that all processes comply with relevant regulations and industry standards. This involves conducting risk assessments, implementing safety measures, and participating in audits to maintain a safe working environment.
- Research and Development: Staying abreast of the latest advancements in water treatment technologies and industry best practices, you will explore innovative solutions to improve process efficiency and sustainability. This includes participating in research projects, collaborating with external stakeholders, and implementing new technologies or methodologies where applicable.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field. A postgraduate qualification will be advantageous.
- Proven experience in process optimization, preferably in a water treatment or related industry.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Familiarity with process simulation software and tools.
- Knowledge of relevant water treatment processes, technologies, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present technical information to diverse audiences.
- Attention to detail, with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.
