Definition of an Examination Assistant: An Examination Assistant is an individual employed by the Department of Education on a temporary basis to assist with examination-related tasks at Marking Centres, Capturing Centres, and the Head Office Examination Depot.
Criteria for Employment as an Examination Assistant: To be eligible for employment as an Examination Assistant, candidates must meet the following criteria:
3.1.1. Second-year full-time students at Tertiary Institutions, including TVET colleges, who have passed Maths at level 3 or Maths Literacy at level 4 and above.
3.1.2. Unemployed graduates with a university degree or diploma may apply and are exempt from the Maths or Maths Literacy requirement.
- 3.1.3. Unemployed youth (holding a Matric Certificate) who passed in 2021 or earlier and have passed Maths at level 3 or Maths Literacy at level 4 and above.
- 3.1.4. Applicants must be South African citizens with a green bar-coded identity document/smart card.
- 3.1.6. Applicants must be between 18 – 35 years of age.
3.2. Important Notes:
- Applicants should not be employed in any form of remunerative employment at the time of application.
- Educators or AET lecturers/tutors are ineligible to apply.
- Applicants who have worked as Examination Assistants from 2019 to 2021 are not eligible.
- Applicants must be willing to perform manual tasks such as carrying boxes/bins and maintaining workspace tidiness.
- Each applicant can only select one marking centre.
- Tertiary institution examinations must be completed before commencing as an Examination Assistant.
- All applicants are required to apply online using the provided link and guidelines.
- Applicants must ensure they have certified PDF copies of relevant documents for online submission (certification must be done at SAPS only).
- Contact numbers and emails must be accurate and up to date; incorrect information may result in disqualification.
- Providing fraudulent information will lead to disqualification.
- Appointment Process:
- Eligible applicants will be shortlisted.
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited to take an online Competency Test at a specified date and time.
- Only successful applicants will be contacted for final employment.

- STEP 1: Access the online portal by typing www.constantlink.co.za in your browser’s address bar.
STEP 2: Enter your email address and click “Get Passcode” to receive your unique passcode. Copy and paste it in the designated box and click “Validate” to log in.
