Position Overview: As a Vessel Traffic Control Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to gather, analyze, and document accurate port control-related information.
You will then communicate this vital information to the port community and marine service stakeholders as required.

Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and record data such as vessel arrival and departure times, shifting movements, and logbook entries.
- Collect and disseminate relevant information to internal and external port users.
- Handle telephone inquiries related to port operations, including ETA’s, ETD’s, and berth assignments.
- Process attachment orders and provide administrative support to the VTS Office.
- Maintain meticulous records of shipping-related data.
- Coordinate emergency call-outs, such as pollution, electrical, and water issues, under the direction of SVTC.
- Offer telephonic assistance regarding marine resource requirements.
- Update shipping information and reports, ensuring ISPS compliance.
- Arrange the supply of fresh water to vessels after regular working hours.
Qualifications & Experience:
- High School diploma (Grade 12) with coursework in Maths and Science.
- Computer literacy is essential.
- 6 to 12 months of experience in marine operations is preferred.
Additional Advantages:
- Skipper Port Operations (Theory) certification from a SAMSA Accredited Institution.
- Vessel Traffic Service Operator Certificate.
