The successful candidate will be responsible for providing top-quality meat products and exceptional customer service, playing a vital role in enhancing our guests’ dining experiences.

Responsibilities:

– Cuts, grinds, and prepares meat for consumers, ensuring precise cuts and presentation
– Listens to customers and answers their questions related to the services provided, offering expert advice on meat selection and preparation
– Displays prices, weighs, packages, and displays meats, maintaining an attractive and well-organized display case
– Follows up with rules, regulations, and other relevant laws guiding livestock production and sales in the geographical area, ensuring compliance with food safety standards
– Negotiates and confirms orders from customers, providing guidance on meat options and preparation methods
– Offers meaningful advice to customers on how to preserve meats they don’t intend using the same day, sharing knowledge on food safety and handling
– Inspects meats and other related products brought for processing or sales to ensure they are safe for consumption, upholding high standards of quality control

– Keeps records, budgets, and inventory of the business, maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation
– Cleans the meat preparation counter to avoid contamination of the meats, adhering to strict sanitation and hygiene protocols
– Educates customers on their choice of meat to satisfy their meat desires, sharing knowledge on different cuts, cooking methods, and pairing options
– Uses butchery tools to cut, grind, tie, and prepare meets for customers, demonstrating expertise and precision
– Cuts meats and puts them into good arrangement for easy identification and selection by customers, creating an attractive and accessible display
– Makes arrangements for delivery of orders received from customers, ensuring timely and efficient service

Requirements:

– Education: On-the-job training or an Associate degree in Food Services, culinary institute coursework, or a degree/diploma in Food Sciences or a related field, demonstrating a foundation in food safety and preparation
– Experience: Several years of experience in the meat industry, with a focus on butchery skills and food safety knowledge, showcasing a deep understanding of meat preparation and handling
– Skills:
– Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues
– Safety consciousness and attention to detail, prioritizing food safety and sanitation

– Multitasking and hand-eye coordination abilities, efficiently managing multiple tasks and tools
– Efficient strength and energy levels, capable of standing for long periods and executing physically demanding tasks
– Excellent personal hygiene and professionalism, maintaining a clean and organized work environment
– Customer service skills, providing exceptional service and ensuring customer satisfaction
– Knowledge of food preservation techniques, especially in relation to meat, and technical skills such as cutting, tenderizing, and deboning

Package & Remuneration:
Salary: R6000 – R7500 per month, depending on experience and qualifications
