Job Requirements
To qualify for the General Worker (Level 2) positions, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A minimum of a Grade 10 qualification is required.
- Literacy Skills: The ability to read and write is essential.
- Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary for effective interaction within the team and with patients.
- Work Schedule Flexibility: Candidates must be prepared to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays. Flexibility in working hours and shift rotation as determined by the supervisor is expected.
- Experience: While not mandatory, experience in a cleaning department will be considered an advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities
The General Worker (Level 2) will undertake a variety of cleaning and maintenance duties, including:
- Routine Cleaning: Carrying out cleaning services using a range of aids to maintain cleanliness in different areas of the hospital. This includes floors, windows, bathrooms, walls, lifts, stairs, carpets, ceilings, and showers.
- Messenger Duties: Assisting with the transportation of items as needed.
- Linen Management: Counting and sorting clean and soiled linen in the wards. This also involves sluicing soiled linen and adhering to healthcare waste management standards.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Following Occupational Health and Safety standards, including the use of prescribed personal protective equipment (PPE) and personal protective clothing.
- Supervision: Performing tasks mainly under direct supervision, with minimal training required for executing duties effectively.
