Your Role in the Beauty Department

As a learner, you’ll be involved in a variety of crucial tasks that contribute to the smooth operation and success of the cosmetics department. These include:

Stock Control

Maintaining optimal stock levels and ensuring product freshness are vital. You’ll be responsible for:

  • Checking sell-by dates to ensure product quality.
  • Ensuring a full range of products is always available on shelves.
  • Participating in stock takes as required.
  • Keeping the storeroom organized and tidy.
  • Reporting low stock, out-of-stock, damaged, or expired items to management.
  • Facilitating regular stock rotation in line with Dis-Chem’s procedures.
  • Promptly identifying and reporting damaged and expired stock.
  • Properly handling and disposing of empty packaging.
  • Restocking merchandise to maximize sales opportunities.

Merchandising

Creating an appealing and engaging shopping experience is key to attracting customers. Your merchandising duties will involve:

  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation for displays.
  • Presenting displays in an attractive and eye-catching manner.
  • Conducting product demonstrations, including makeovers, cosmetic demonstrations, and spray promotions.
  • Ensuring all goods are correctly priced and labeled.
  • Working towards achieving sales targets for various vendors and brands.
  • Adhering to stock layout principles for optimal presentation.
  • Ensuring cosmetic displays are always faced up and fully stocked.
  • Assisting with the loading and off-loading of stock when needed.
  • Reporting any price discrepancies to management.

Customer Service

At the heart of the retail experience is exceptional customer service. You’ll be the face of Dis-Chem’s beauty department, providing:

  • Friendly, helpful, and courteous assistance and advice to all customers.
  • Processing payments accurately at the Cosmetics Department Point of Sales (POS).
  • Offering advice to customers without pressuring them to switch their preferred brands.
  • Effectively dealing with and resolving customer stock queries.
