The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the role of General Manager for the New Rolling Stock Fleet Renewal Programme (NRSFRP). The successful candidate will play a crucial role in leading and directing the planning, development, and implementation of PRASA’s NRSFRP.
Contribute to the development and review of the Strategic Asset Development (SAD) strategy and plans, aligning with the Group’s objectives.
Lead the development of the NRSFRP strategy and plans, ensuring alignment with evolving business needs.
Coordinate the implementation of the Design Review Process for various train variants.
Act as PRASA Chief Representative on agreements with the Gibela Rail Transport Consortium (RF).
Oversee the delivery and deployment of new EMU train sets and related processes.
Manage contract documentation, configuration management, and fleet warranty.
Corporate Governance and Compliance:
Develop and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Manage the NRSFRP Risk Register and review hazard analysis for deployment corridors.
Determine program priorities and ensure effective resource allocation.
Implement efficiency measures for optimal capacity utilization and performance.
Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, internal customers, and external stakeholders including the Department of Transport and National Treasury.
Reporting and Advisory:
Provide advice on NRSFRP operations.
Ensure comprehensive reporting on all NRSFRP matters.
Education: Degree in Engineering, Finance, Quantity Surveying, or equivalent. Preferably MBA or equivalent.
Professional Registration: Registration with an Engineering/ Project/Construction or Quantity Surveying professional body.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years’ experience in project management/contracts management, leading complex and multidisciplinary mega contracts/projects in rolling stock.
