Position Overview: As a Database Administrator for PostgreSQL, your role is to commission and ensure the efficient operation of PostgreSQL databases and server software within Capitec Bank.

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in PostgreSQL database administration and design.
• Proven ability in PostgreSQL and operating system performance tuning and monitoring.
• Experience in database change management and data management through various development life cycle stages.
• Proficient in writing and understanding scripts and PLSQL.
• Automation of jobs and functions.

Qualifications:

• Minimum: Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational.
• Ideal or Preferred: Relevant degree in Information Technology or Information Technology – Computer Science.

Knowledge: Minimum:

• Advanced database concepts.
• Good knowledge of PostgreSQL database, related utilities, and tools.
• Understanding of the underlying operating system.
• Expertise in all PostgreSQL backup and recovery scenarios.
• Proficient in PostgreSQL security management and data integrity.
• Skills in both database and system performance tuning.
• Experience in migrating databases to other platforms and databases.
• Understanding of SQL code and support for PostgreSQL Security and Auditing.

Ideal:

• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS/Azure.
• Knowledge of monitoring tools, capacity planning, and data warehousing.

Skills:

• Strong communication skills.
• Computer literacy (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook).
• Planning, organizing, and coordination skills.
• Analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Project management skills (Methodology specific).
