*Job Summary:*

The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining food safety and quality management systems, ensuring compliance with specifications and regulations. Key responsibilities include:

– Compiling and updating customer databases
– Submitting samples for external testing and analyzing results
– Managing environmental monitoring programs and external testing samples
– Evaluating and trending results to ensure compliance
– Identifying and communicating non-conforming products
– Assisting in analytical testing and quality control

*Responsibilities:*

The Food Technologist will be expected to:

– Compile a customer database that stipulates their external analysis needs and continuously update to keep it current
– Identify and submit all samples requiring external analytical/microbiological testing as per schedule
– Manage environmental monitoring programs, ensuring swabs are taken as per the testing schedule
– Manage external testing samples, ensuring all samples are taken aseptically to avoid cross-contamination
– Manage external analytical/chemical tests as per the testing schedule
– Evaluate and trend results to ensure compliance to specification
– Identify any non-conforming product, communicating this information to the relevant stakeholders and assisting the QA Technologist in determining the root cause and corrective action for the non-conformance
– Trend non-conforming results to establish possible areas for improvement
– Record all results on relevant databases
– Actively participate in interested parties’ visits (e.g., Halaal, Kosher, customers, government)
– Ensure compliance with good housekeeping practices
– Assist with analytical testing as needed
– Answer QC-related questions during internal and external audits

*Food Safety Responsibilities:*

The Food Technologist will also be responsible for:

– Conducting food safety training needs for the plant
– Conducting weekly hygiene/GMP audits
– Conducting glass and hard plastic checks as per schedule
– Conducting cleaning and sanitation checks (post-cleaning checks)
– Managing and monitoring allergen management programs in the plant
– Collecting and reviewing daily food safety checks from the plant and taking proper actions when needed
– Conducting daily staff hygiene checks
– Assisting in managing pest control programs within the site
– Assisting in preparing for external food safety audits
– Conducting annual mock recall or traceability exercises and feedback on performance
– Managing supplier non-conformances process and COA’s follow-up
– Assisting the QAT in managing Food Safety Meetings activities and compiling information for management reviews
– Assisting in investigating customer complaints, corrective actions, and implementing corrective actions
– Assisting in monitoring and verifying OPRP’s, CCP’s on a daily basis
– Trending monthly: Micro results, customer complaints, Foreign Object, Corrective actions, chemical results, GMP audits, Supplier Non-conformances, Allergen Management, OPRP AND CCP monitoring
– Assisting in compiling monthly reports
– Assisting in managing control of non-conforming products
– Ensuring staff adhere to Food Safety Culture

*Minimum Criteria:*

– Sc. Consumer Science/ Food Science/ B.Tech. Food technology/ N.D Food Technology. N.D Biotechnology
– ISO 22000 implementation/ FSSC 22000
