Position Summary
As a Shop Assistant Cashier, your role will involve various responsibilities aimed at delivering a superior shopping experience for our customers. This includes executing operational activities at the POS with efficiency, ensuring accurate scanning and payment collection, and maintaining the safe handling of cash. Additionally, you will be responsible for promoting the store’s loyalty program and current promotions, providing excellent customer service, and supporting store merchandising and housekeeping standards. Your efforts will align with the company’s vision of being the preferred choice for health and beauty products.

- Efficient Operational Execution:
- Perform all tasks at the POS with accuracy and efficiency.
- Ensure timely processing of transactions and smooth operation of checkout systems.
- Accurate Payment Handling:
- Maintain precision when scanning merchandise and handling payments.
- Ensure accurate application of clubcard rewards and promotions.
- Safe Cash Handling:
- Handle cash responsibly and securely, minimizing errors and preventing loss.
- Promote Clubcard Program:
- Actively promote the store’s loyalty card and enroll new members to meet participation targets.
- Inform Customers of Promotions:
- Keep customers informed about ongoing promotions to drive sales and enhance their shopping experience.
- Superior Customer Service:
- Represent the brand positively, offering friendly and professional service to all customers.
- Merchandising and Housekeeping:
- Execute and maintain merchandising standards and perform general housekeeping duties to ensure a tidy and visually appealing store environment.

- Product Knowledge:
- Stay informed about products, ranges, promotions, and store events to provide accurate information to customers.
Knowledge Requirements:
- Basic Maths Calculations: Ability to perform basic mathematical operations required for transactions and handling cash.
- Retail/FMCG Experience: Understanding of retail operations, including merchandising principles and promotional activities.
- Stock Management: Knowledge of inventory procedures and stock control.
- Customer Service Excellence: Understanding of best practices in customer service and how to enhance customer satisfaction.

Minimum Requirements:
- Experience: Previous experience in a customer-facing role within a retail or FMCG environment is preferred but not essential.
- Education:
- Essential: Grade 12 (Matric) qualification.
- Desirable: Achieved at least 50% in Maths and English at Grade 12 level.
