Job Description:
The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the role of General Manager for the New Rolling Stock Fleet Renewal Programme (NRSFRP). The successful candidate will play a crucial role in leading and directing the planning, development, and implementation of PRASA’s NRSFRP.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning:
- Contribute to the development and review of the Strategic Asset Development (SAD) strategy and plans, aligning with the Group’s objectives.
- Lead the development of the NRSFRP strategy and plans, ensuring alignment with evolving business needs.
- Coordinate the implementation of the Design Review Process for various train variants.
- Operational Oversight:
- Act as PRASA Chief Representative on agreements with the Gibela Rail Transport Consortium (RF).
- Oversee the delivery and deployment of new EMU train sets and related processes.
- Manage contract documentation, configuration management, and fleet warranty.
- Corporate Governance and Compliance:
- Develop and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Manage the NRSFRP Risk Register and review hazard analysis for deployment corridors.
- Resource Management:
- Determine program priorities and ensure effective resource allocation.
- Implement efficiency measures for optimal capacity utilization and performance.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, internal customers, and external stakeholders including the Department of Transport and National Treasury.
- Reporting and Advisory:
- Provide advice on NRSFRP operations.
- Ensure comprehensive reporting on all NRSFRP matters.
Requirements:
Education: Degree in Engineering, Finance, Quantity Surveying, or equivalent. Preferably MBA or equivalent.
Professional Registration: Registration with an Engineering/ Project/Construction or Quantity Surveying professional body.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years’ experience in project management/contracts management, leading complex and multidisciplinary mega contracts/projects in rolling stock.
